Clearly, Baker’s versatile talents have been thoroughly acknowledged by the Academy. In another anticipated yet surprising turn of events, Adrian Brody won his second Oscar for Best Actor in 22 years with his performance in “Rough Style.”
“Emilia Perez,” which garnered 13 nominations and leads this year’s Oscars, marks a milestone as the first non-English musical to be nominated for Best Picture. In addition to winning Best Original Song, Zoe Saldana secured the Best Supporting Actress award for her remarkable performance in the film.
As the first Brazilian film ever to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, “I Am Still Here” secured the award for Best International Feature Film. Kieran Culkin took home the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in “True Pain,” a win that came as no surprise. The animated film “Cat’s Fantastic Voyage” marked Latvia’s debut nomination in the International Feature Film category and clinched the Best Animated Feature award at the 97th Academy Awards.
This year, Paul Tazewell made history as the first Black recipient of the Best Costume Design award for his work on “Wicked.” The film “Some Substance” took home the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, while “Dune 2” dominated in both Best Visual Effects and Best Sound categories. Lol Crawley and Daniel Blumberg earned their first-ever nominations and wins, taking home awards for Best Cinematography and Best Original Score respectively, for their work on “The Wild Bunch.” Notably, Lol Crawley is a frequent collaborator of director Brady Corbet.
